Windows 8 overtakes Apple OS X worldwide Oct 2nd 2013, 02:25 Nearly a year after it was released, Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system has overtaken Apple's OS X in terms of market share last September, a tech site reported this week.PC World cited figures from StatCounter showing Windows 8 had a 7.46-percent market share - a 0.44-percent increase from August - while Mac had 6.98 percent of the OS pie.StatCounter's figures also showed Windows 7 still getting the biggest share of the OS pie with 51.98 percent as of September 2013, followed by the 12-year-old Windows XP with 20.59 percent.
