Apple release iOS 6.1.1, fixes cellular issues on iPhone 4S

It was just two weeks ago that Apple released the iOS 6.1 update enabling LTE to iPhone 5 units here in the country. Although the update appears on a number of devices, there are no significant changes that would benefit these devices locally.

A curious thing happened for iPhone 4S users who updated their iOS to 6.1 though. As observed by a lot of iPhone 4S users in Philmug, cellular performance on their units somewhat degraded after the update. For some, in areas where they usually get 3G speeds, they would only be getting just EDGE  (2G) speeds.

The iOS 6.1.1 is made specifically to address this issue. According to Apple’s software update page, this 23 MB update (for iOS 6.1 users) fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability for iPhone 4S.
