The Senate has ratified the bicameral conference committee report on the bill removing taxes imposed by the Philippine governement on international carriers and shippers. Senate Bill 3343, which was approved on third and final reading last December, seeks to waive the 2.5-percent Gross Philippine Billings Tax (GPBT) imposed on international carriers and shippers for the carriage of persons and their excess baggage. This, however, is on the condition that the home country of the said foreign carriers will agree to give a similar tax exemption to Philippine carriers. ...
