Voting 19-0, the Senate passed on third and final reading Senate Bill 2944 or the Agriculture and Land Reform Code, a bill that extends the corporate life of the Land Bank of the Philippines for another 50 years. The Land Bank's corporate life was to expire next year. Sen. Serge Osmeña, sponsor of SB 2944 and chair of the Senate committee on banks, financial institutions and currencies, had said that the Land Bank currently ranks fourth among the top five commercial banks in the country in terms of deposits, assets, loans and capital. ...
