The Vale Minas Gerais, the world's largest iron-ore carrier,docked for the first time at Vale SA's floating iron oreterminal at the Port of Villanueva in the Philippines, thecompany said in a statement. Rio de Janeiro-based Vale, theworld's No. 2 mining company, said the Singapore-flagged ValeMinas Gerais is on its maiden voyage. Ore from the 400,000deadweight-ton "Valemax" vessel, which is bigger than threestandard soccer fields laid end to end, will be transshipped atVillanueva to smaller carriers for its final journey to Japan'sJFE Steel, Vale said.
